Lehigh County Executive Don Cunningham Touts Emergency Preparedness Agenda

Lehigh County Municipalities receive laptop computers, night vision equipment, and other emergency management equipment worth nearly $150,000

Allentown – While handing out nearly $150,000 worth of emergency response equipment to municipal fire, police, EMS, and emergency response personnel at a training sponsored by Lehigh County, Lehigh County Executive Don Cunningham today urged all county residents to take personal responsibility for planning for their own well-being in the event of emergency.

“I am happy to hand out this gear to our local emergency responders in Lehigh County,” said Cunningham.  “But what’s even more important than the right equipment or the right plan is our level of individual preparedness.  Effective emergency preparedness in government comes from individual preparedness that grows into family, neighborhood and community preparedness.”

The emergency equipment and supplies, which were received by Lehigh County through a federal grant administered by the Northeastern Pennsylvania Regional Counterterrorism Task Force, will improve Lehigh County’s day to day emergency readiness.  Items distributed include:

Laptop computers ($ 42,924.00), printer/fax/scanner combo units ($ 8,050.00), two-way emergency radios ($21,200.00), binoculars ($13,955.00), night vision law enforcement equipment ($53,910.00), ballistic shields for law enforcement ($ 30,209.00), OED protective equipment ($9,703.00), and mass casualty EMS supplies ($6,771.00).
